Acquire™ Case Study – Power Plant Metering HMI

NORTHCHURCH, England, May 8th 2014.

Ambrit worked closely with SOCRATE SpA to install an Acquire HMI on a Gas Turbine Power Plant in Iraq.powerplant

Acquire is the hub of the metering system, managing the dual network duty/standby Omni flow computers, communicating directly with a duty/standby PLC to acquire and display real time data from system equipment on multiple P&IDs, and then passing all system data to a DCS system via a Modbus server.

The direct integration of Acquire with the PLC eliminates the requirement for the PLC to have its own dedicated HMI and screen. Instead, signals from all the system equipment – including valves, transmitters, switches, pumps, filters, heaters, blowers, separators and condensate tanks – are passed from the PLC to Acquire and presented on a set of 9 interconnected P&IDs which display alarms, active meter runs and equipment states in real time. Operators and engineers can monitor and control the field instrumentation with different security levels.

Philip Gold, Project Manager at SOCRATE SpA, commented, “Acquire provided an excellent solution for a complex system. The support and custom engineering given by Ambrit was outstanding. Their support enabled us to deliver on time.”

The project was built around the new Acquire v3.0, which takes advantage of the latest operating system and web browser technology to deliver performance benefits to every aspect of the HMI.
