The second step in the setup process is to add an RTU.

| Specify the communications protocol required
to talk to the RTU. The following protocols are supported: Serial / TCP
/ Modem / Acquire. The selected protocol will determine the setup fields

| This is the IP address of the RTU. |
| This is the TCP port of the RTU. For Modbus
TCP this is normally 502. |
| This is the telephone number to dial to contact
the RTU. |
| This is the baud rate of the serial port used to connect
to the RTU. |
| This is the number of data bits of the serial
port connection. It is normally set to 8. |
| This is the number of stop bits of the serial
port connection. It is normally set to 1. |
| This is the parity setting of the serial port
connection. It is normally set to NONE. |
| This is the Modbus slave address that the
RTU will respond on. It is normally set to 1. If you are using multi drop
RS422 then each RTU will have its own unique Modbus slave address. |
| This is the length of time in seconds that
Profile will wait for a response from the RTU. To use the default settings
enter 0 in to this field. |
| This is the length of time in seconds that
Profile will wait for a connection to be made. To use the default settings
enter 0 into this field. |
| This bit will change on the final release. |
| This popup menu allows you to override the
default rate that alarms are requested for the RTU. The default poll rate
is 2 seconds although this default poll rate can be modified in the Profile
preferences screen. |

Once saved, the RTU screen is then displayed. From this screen you can click
'Add' to
add extra RTUs to the site or click on the 'Profile' menu in the Module bar to
choose 'Overview' to view real time information from the RTU.
