Selecting a Field

Profile™ allows you to select any field from the RTU's Modbus map and display it on the screen or custom reports.

Adding or editing a field in Profile™ will bring up the select field dialogue window:

Selecting a Field

Specify the fields as follows:

Field Description
Title This is the name used to identify the field when it appears on the screen or report.
Field This is the name of the field in the Modbus map. As the field name is entered, Profile™ will continually attempt to find the best match for the input so far. Alternatively, the field can be selected straight from the list. If the Modbus address is known beforehand can be entered into the 'Field' area and Profile™ will automatically select the field from the database.
Decimal Places This sets the number of decimal places used when displaying the field on the screen or report.
Type (Screen Only) This popup menu selects whether the field appears on the detail list. There are three options "Value", "High Limit" and "Low Limit". The screen will be shown in red if the value is outside of either the high or low limit.
Linked Screen (Overview Screen Only) This popup menu contains a list of all the screens that have been defined in the configuration. Selecting an item other than 'None' from the popup menu adds a 'Detail' button next to the field when it is displayed on the overview screen. Clicking the 'Detail' button transports the user to the selected linked screen.
View Level (Screen Only) The 'View Level' popup menu is set to indicate what level of access is required to see this field.
Units The 'Units' field displays the units that have been setup for the field. The contents of this field can only be modified by editing the field.
Security Level The 'Security Level' field displays the level of access the user must have to be able to alter the field. The contents of this field can only be modified by editing the field.
