Constant Tables

Constant tables allow text values to be attributed to numeric values. For instance, a valve input field may use the following constant table to represent its various states:

0 = Illegal
1 = Open
2 = Closed
3 = Moving

To add a constant table:

  • Click the 'Edit' button next to the 'Constant Table' popup menu with the constant table 'None' selected.

or

  • Select "Custom" from the 'Constant Table' popup menu.

This will open the constant table window:

Constant Tables

To add a new entry to the constant table:

  • Click the 'Add' button.

or

  • Double click on an empty row in the list.

To edit an existing entry in the constant table:

  • Double click on the entry in the list.

or

  • Highlight the entry in the list.
  • Click the 'Edit' button.

Constant Tables

Enter the numeric value and its text description.

  • Click the 'OK' button.

In the example above, when the RTU returns 3 for a field using the constant table, Profile™ will display "Moving" instead of 3 in any screen or report.

To remove an entry in the constant table:

  • Highlight the entry in the list.
  • Click the 'Remove' button.
