Flowcomputer Setup

Once the basic setup has been completed, use the 'Station Communications' screen to configure each of the station's flowcomputers.

The screen shows a diagrammatic representation of the Acquire™ server with the number of flowcomputers connected as specified in the previous set up screen. The selected flowcomputer is highlighted in red. Enter the set up data for that flowcomputer. Specify the fields as follows:

Field Description
Name Enter the name used to identify the flowcomputer. It is recommended to keep the name as short as possible.
Protocol 'Protocol' can be set to either "TCP/IP" or "Serial". Some flowcomputers only support one protocol as follows:

  • Omni 3000 / 6000 - TCP/IP and Serial
  • Omni RMC / LMC - TCP/IP and Serial
  • Daniel S600 - TCP/IP only
  • Alderley E2000 - TCP/IP only
  • Solartron 7950 - TCP/IP only
Note:  If the redundant server option is being used then only the TCP/IP option is available.
IP Address This is the IP address of the named flowcomputer.
Port This is the communications port for the named flowcomputer.
Slave Address This needs to match the slave address set on the flowcomputer
Config Flowcomputers handle their configuration in different ways as follows:

  • Omni 3000 / 6000 - The config is hard coded based on the ROM sets installed. Select the ROM sets that match the Omni.
  • Omni RMC / LMC - Daniel S600 - The configuration is dynamic and must be downloaded from the flowcomputer. Enter the rest of the communications details and click 'Import'.
  • Daniel S600 - The configuration is dynamic and must be downloaded from the flowcomputer. Enter the rest of the communications details and click 'Import'.
  • Alderley E2000 - The configuration is dynamic and must be downloaded from the flowcomputer. Enter the rest of the communications details and click 'Import'.
  • Solartron 7950 - The config is hard coded, based on the ROM sets installed.
Streams Select which streams apply to this flowcomputer.

Communications Settingss

Select the flowcomputer type and enter a name to identify it. Enter the pertinent data to facilitate a proper communication with the flowcomputer (either TCP or serial). This data must match the set up of the flowcomputer communications link.

S600: In the case of the FloBoss S600, it is essential that Acquire™ is connected to the flowcomputer otherwise Acquire™ will not allow completion of the configuration. Once you have set up the IP address details click 'Download'. This will transfer the flowcomputer's configuration file into Acquire™.

Omni: When using Acquire™ with an Omni flowcomputer you must manually select the type of flowcomputer that you are connecting to.

Streams

To set up the streams for the flowcomputer: Select which streams apply to that flowcomputer and if that flowcomputer is to perform station totalising. Only one flowcomputer can perform station totalising. If, in the previous screen, flowcomputer totalisation was not selected, then this option is not available.

Provers

If there is a prover computer per station then one of the selected flowcomputers must be allocated to be the prover. If there is a prover computer per stream then all of the flowcomputers will be allocated to be provers automatically.

Note: When a flowcomputer is set up to perform station totals, only flowcomputers of the same type are included in the station total.

If a prover is chosen, only flowcomputers of the same type can be selected.

Duty Standby

If duty standby was chosen for the window the flowcomputer setup window will allow entry of the standby flowcomputer name and its IP address. The config for the standby machine will also be downloaded.

Note: Duty Standby is only available for S600 and on single flowcomputer setups.

Flowcomputer setup with redundant servers

Setting up flowcomputers to work with redundant servers is the same as the single server setup with the exception of the additional IP address, Port and Slave address to be used by the second server.

The following screen shows the flowcomputer setup screen when using redundant servers:

Configuring Additional Flowcompuers

Once the setup of the flowcomputer is complete click 'Next'. Acquire™ will display the set up screen for the next flowcomputer.

S600: If the S600 config has not yet been downloaded, Acquire™ will download the configuration from the flowcomputer to the Acquire™ server before displaying the next flowcomputer setup screen.

Repeat the steps in the setup process to complete the setup of the remaining flowcomputers.

When all flowcomputers have been setup the Station Summary will be displayed.
