P&IDEditing the P&IDTo edit the P&ID select 'P&ID...' from the 'Acquire' menu. The P&ID editor graphically displays how the system has been configured:
Each stream is shown with its appropriate field instruments or 'devices'. The streams are represented by blue piping. Icons represent the devices attached to each stream. Acquire™ will draw a default P&ID when a new station is added, based on the station type selected and the flowcomputer configuration. In the example above, each device has the value of the first field from the sidebar above it and the tag name of the device immediately below it. Drawing the P&IDAcquire™ will draw a default P&ID when a new station is added, based on the station type selected and the flowcomputer configuration. Devices can be repositioned anywhere on the screen simply by dragging and dropping them to the desired position. New devices can be added from the Device Pallet. Clicking on a device will highlight the device and will show the Device Sidebar. Double clicking on an device will show the Device Properties for the device. Double clicking on a text cell such as a 'First Field', 'Tag', 'Total' or 'Custom Text' cell will bring up the Text Properties window. Devices that are attached to the pipe such as pressure, temperature, density and the chromatograph can be positioned against any orientation of pipe. Eg dragging a temperature to the right of a vertical pipe will still link the device to the pipe. The user has control over which pipe the device links to when there is more than one pipe in close proximity to the device by pressing CTRL and the cursor keys. Devices can also be copied to and from the clipboard using the traditional 'Cut', 'Copy' and 'Paste' options in the 'Edit' menu. Items on the P&ID can be deleted by dragging them onto the bin icon in the bottom right hand corner of the P&ID.. The whole P&ID can be moved up, down, left and right. Selecting the appropriate move command from the 'P&ID' menu moves the P&ID in that direction. This can be repeated until the desired position is achieved. Warning: Data that moves off the screen will be lost. Displaying Live Data on the P&IDAcquire's editors display data direct from the flowcomputers. Live flow rates, temperatures etc. are displayed on the P&ID and sidebar. Tip: When editing the P&ID it may be useful to see the name of the flowcomputer fields in use rather than the live values. To display the field names instead of the values select 'Show Field Names' from the 'Edit' menu. To show the values select 'Show Field Values' from the 'Edit menu'. Text box types can be shown in the same way. Select 'Show Text Box Types' from the 'Edit' menu to display the type of field being used i.e. 'Total', 'First Field', 'Tag' or 'Custom Text'. Select 'Show Text Box Values' from the 'Edit' menu to revert back to displaying the text box values. Viewing Flow and Valve StatesValve states and flow from the pipes are also displayed. If the pipe is flowing (i.e. all valves are open) then Acquire™ will trace the flow through the open pipes. Flow starts from a start manifold and traces through to an end manifold. Flow is blocked by a missing pipe or by a closed valve. If more than one stream is selected Acquire™ will display the streams on a common header. Acquire™ can also handle individual runs for each stream. These can be drawn manually by adding more start and end manifolds at the beginning of each stream. Alternatively if no station totals have been selected in the 'Add Station' screen individual headers will be drawn automatically. Viewing the Station SidebarThe Station Sidebar is displayed when the background of the P&ID (or any icon that does not have its own sidebar) is clicked. To enable the Station Sidebar ensure that 'Station Sidebar' is ticked in the 'P&ID' menu. Saving, Reverting to Saved and Redrawing the P&IDTo save changes made to the P&ID select 'Save P&ID' from the 'File' Menu. If a mistake is made during the editing process selecting 'Revert to Saved' from the 'File' menu to revert to the previously saved P&ID. To return the P&ID to it's original state select 'Revert to Default P&ID' from the 'P&ID' menu. Warning: 'Revert to Default P&ID' cannot be undone.
