Using Foreign Languages on the Web Pages

Languages is an optional feature of Acquire made available through your key file.

By default Acquire uses English as its main language and although the editors only run in English, the web site can be displayed in other languages.

Acquire™ dynamically translates all the text on the fly so different users can use their own language simultaneously. This means that English, Russian and French users can use the system at the same time with their own local language. Once a language has been added that language can be set for a user in the 'user' screens.

Adding a Language

To add another language:

  • Select 'Languages' from the 'Config' menu. If no languages have been defined Acquire will let you add one.
  • Click to select the language you require from the Add Language window.
  • Click the 'OK' Button.

The language's dictionary will be imported. The language window will then open, where the phrases can be further customised.

Many languages can be installed. A list of installed languages is in the pop up menu at the top right of the screen. To change the currently displayed language:

  • Select the language from the language pop up menu. (Top right)

Acquire™ will translate any phrases on the fly. It will also intelligently search the phrase book to see if it can build the translation in the event that the full translation is not available. eg if Acquire needs to translate "High Temperature Alarm" it will first search the phrase book for the full phrase. If it cannot find it will attempt to translate individual sub phrases or words eg "High Temperature" and "Alarm" if no sub phrases exist it will try to assemble the individual words "High", "Temperature" and "Alarm" to make up the full phrase.

Each language can be sorted into alphabetical order by clicking on the language in the column header.

Adding another Language

To add another language into the language phrase book:

Adding a Phrase

New phrases can be entered into the phrase book by clicking the 'Add Phrase' button.

There will be a field for each language defined. Enter the English and the different language translations and click the 'OK' button.

Note: If a phrase does not have a translation it will default to showing the English version of the phrase.

Tip: If you have a short phrase in English, try to keep the phrases in the other languages a similar kind of length otherwise cropping may occur.
