Edit Field

Fields for the flowcomputers are set by default based on the flowcomputer's configuration, however it is possible to override these default settings.

Note: On a S600 these settings come directly from the flowcomputer so must be changed on the flowcomputer itself and the config reloaded.

To edit a field, double click on the icon of the flowcomputer in the flowcomputer status window and select the configure tab.

Double click the field you want to edit from the list.

Field Name

The 'Field Name' is only used enterable on a PLC.

Note: If the server has multiple languages installed, then Acquire™ will show the 'Quick Translate' button next to the field. Clicking on this button will allow the translation to be entered for the phrase.

Field Types

The 'Field Type', 'Data Map', 'Modbus Address', and 'Full Field Name' fields can only be set when you are configuring a PLC.

When used on a flowcomputer, these will be preset and will not be changeable.

Field Groups

The 'Group Name' field is used on the Edit Flowcomputer window to help you locate the field more easily in the future. This field is optional.

The 'Station' and 'Stream' fields allow you to allocate the flowcomputer field to a stream. This makes locating the field in the P&ID and data screens much easier as Acquire™ will first present the user with a list of fields for the selected streams first. These fields are optional.

Security Levels

Acquire™ will automatically use the security levels that have been setup in the flowcomputer. These security levels can be overidden by selecting a new value from the popup menu. 0 means that the field is not edittable at all, 1 is the highest level of security and 9 is the lowest level of security. To choose a new security level select it from the popup menu.

Units

The field may have units assigned to it. There are two ways of selecting the unit, either from the 'Unit Type' popup menu that allows you to select the type of unit eg Temperature and Acquire™ will use the default unit type setup for the unit or select it directly from the 'Units' menu.

Formulas

The 'Formula' popup menu allows you to setup a simple formula that will be applied to the field when it is displayed. This can be useful when selecting a value from a bit sequence or when the value has been scaled by the flowcomputer.

Text Descriptions

Acquire™ allows fields to have text values to be associated with the numeric values that are returned from the flowcomputer. eg 1 = Open, 2 = Closed etc. Numbers do not need to be sequential. Click the 'Add', 'Edit' or 'Delete' buttons to make changes to the text descriptions.
